Del's
career with horses began when she started riding at age 12. Her
early experiences were with hunters and Arabians, showing and riding for
Maggie and Bob Wideman of Little Hope Ranch (her future In-Laws).
After some time off with her children, Del resumed her career in jumpers
and dressage, showing and training. She has studied with such greats as Jean Claude Racinet
(pupil of Baucher's writings), Nicholas Adametz (Spanish Riding School),
and the late Major Clifford
Goman (US Cavalry).
For 17 years
Del was a student of the renowned horseman, Dave Seay . The connection to the English disciplines was
obvious to her from the start, plus she observed something she wanted to
have with her horses, too, and that was to really work in unison.
From Dave, Del has learned the principles of progressive communication
with horses, and applied those techniques to the disciplines of dressage
and jumping.
As a Progressive Horseman, Instructor, Trainer, and Clinician,
having studied and practiced both the "conventional and natural"
horsemanship methods, Del helps people "Make the Connection"
with their horses in any discipline through the universal methods of
"Progressive Horsemanship" (a form of natural horsemanship).
She provides instruction in the art of understanding and communicating
effectively with the horse on the ground and from the saddle. She
is committed to advancing the partnership between horse and human by
teaching Progressive Horsemanship (communication, trust and the humane
treatment of equines through horse psychology and safe practices),
bridging the gap for English and Western Riding Disciplines.
