Progressive Horsemanship Show - Fall 2004

This was our 2nd Progressive Horsemanship Show and it proved to be even better than the first!

It was action packed and had something for everyone!  Whether it was English, Western, Jumping or Trail;  we had it covered.  There were not only riding classes but ground classes as well.

Like our first show, this one was about how well the entrant utilized the PH method in accomplishing the goals set forth in the classes.  IT WAS NOT ABOUT A PERFECT RIDE.  This was seen several times when riders who applied the methods were awarded accordingly.

There wasn't "1st, 2nd, etc..." place;  the awards were for "Best Partnership", "Best Performance" and "Best Use of Technique".

This Show was about  how well the rider met the horse's needs by applying PH methods to relate to the horse and the required responses for each class.

Dave Seay, Progressive Horsemanship's founder was our guest of honor at this year's show.  He made a lasting impression on everyone as he presented the ribbons for each class mounted bridleless on his beautiful mare, Dove.

Del Wideman, PH Graduate Apprentice (3rd from left) was the Ring Master.  Deborah Thorne (left), PH Intermediate Working Apprentice and Trish Stuedemann (2nd from left), long time PH Student, were the distinguished judges. Ann Vaughn (far right) officiated as our pattern caller for riders in the pattern classes.

Here they are watching one of the riders negotiate a riding pattern class.

Riders took the opportunity to study their patterns while waiting their turn.

The Trail Class offered a chance for everyone to show off their skills at obstacles.

In PH style...............
Jumping was open to all breeds and all disciplines......even so, the English riders took this opportunity to demonstrate that the PH methods work over the fences as well as in trail.

The Show had horses and riders at all levels entering classes. Pictured here in one of the classes is a horse that was just broke the week before at the Apprentice Clinic.

There was also room for the flare in all of us with some ground classes that proved to be just as much fun as the riding classes!

THANKS TO ALL THAT PARTICIPATED AND HELPED WITH MAKING THE 2ND PROGRESSIVE HORSEMANSHIP SHOW A GREAT SUCCESS!
